I made this picture on a early morning in the National Park Dwingelderveld. Located in the north of the Netherlands. This photo was taken in september and in this period of the year the nights are getting colder. This means the chances for mist in the morning are raising. Especially in an area like fens. The place turns into a magical place like in a fairy tale.

When I drove to the place I saw some nice clouds which could get color during the sunrise. The fog adds a lot of atmosphere in the photo. All these conditions together make the image complete. Technical there isn’t much to it. The hard part was being on location several times and waking up early at 5 AM. 

I had this image in my mind for a while. First I scouted the location. Then I came back for more than five times during sunrise to get the conditions right. There isn’t a better feeling when all the hard work pays off in a great image.
