Irma says:

I’m always very happy when I can photograph great pasque flowers because it means that spring is coming, nature starts buzzing and there are many themes to shoot. So every spring or late winter, since they even bloom in snow, I go and find them. I wanted to photograph the flowers and the sun together. These flowers grew on a hillside, so I decided to combine the purple flowers and the beautiful lilac sun just setting in the valley.
As I tried lying on the very steep hillside to have the flower and the sun in the same picture, I came to realize that I wouldn’t be able to do it, no matter how I positioned myself. Then I thought that I’d quickly take two photos as an in-camera multiple exposure of the sun setting in the valley and the flower. I didn’t have much time because the sun had almost set. I think I ended up with a good photo and it was worth using this technique.

Graduated as an economist, I started photography only a few years ago, it is only a passion. But since then, I was captivated by nature: the mist of dawn above the lake, scenery covered deep in fog, watching birds’ behaviour from dawn to dusk or the little flowers with dew drops running on the petals. Some simply walk by these wonders. Shooting against the sun is one of my favourite scenarios, but I also like abstracts.
I believe in living these experiences are superior to winning prizes: to be there, on the spot, day after day to witness the wonder of the rising sun and to be fascinated about the beauty of life on our Planet – we ought to protect it more.
