Last year, I planned to visit the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, India, which is located in the state of Rajasthan. When I arrived at the location and was hiking throughout the day and night, one night while searching for scorpions for a composition I had planned earlier, I saw this species roaming around us. In the desert, you encounter ample numbers of scorpions at night. That night, I saw a scorpion beautifully positioned amidst the dune patterns. I composed the image using an LED torch to illuminate the dune patterns and a faint UV torch to make the scorpion glow.

I am Avilash Ghosh from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. My interest in photography began when I was a child in the fourth grade, inspired by my father, a passionate street photographer. He was also an excellent film developer. At home, I watched him develop his film rolls by himself using chemical processing, and these experiences always sparked my curiosity.
Eventually, I approached my father for a camera. He was astonished by my request and gave me his Nikon FM2. Although I was not very experienced at the time, this marked the start of my photography journey. I began with street photography, and my interests later expanded to include wildlife, wedding, and fashion photography. However, wildlife photography has been the genre that has given me the most joy from the beginning because nature always amazes me. This is the main reason I continue with nature and wildlife photography.
Nature and wildlife are my all-time favorite genres to photograph, but I also enjoy wedding photography. Mother Nature always provides inspiration to capture every aspect of it. When I am on a wildlife trip, I approach composition differently, which adds a unique spark to my images.
