Clement Kiragu says:

It was a warm September evening in 2018. I was with my photo safari guests at the banks of Mara River, hoping to see a good crossing before the day ended. A herd of zebras started gathering near the river, the sun was under a very dark cloud, and I remember I kept wishing the cloud to pass so that we would get lovely sun rays. Then, just by the river, I spotted the lioness’s tail. I immediately advised my guests to focus on the lioness and she jumped to action as anticipated. It was a dramatic photographic opportunity, however the hunt failed, like 75% of lion hunt attempts. You could almost feel the disappointment in her posture, just alone in a large cloud of dust.

About Clement Kiragu:

Kenya

My name is Clement Kiragu. I am a storyteller. I am a child of Africa and documenting Africa, its people and wildlife mainly through the artforms of photography and cinematography. My journey in visual arts started in the art school, where I studied fine art and majored in graphic design. After that I spent ten years as an art director in Kenya’s top Advertising Agencies. I have been photographing people and wildlife for eight years now. Thus, the visual language has been my entire adult life. It’s my hope to use my knowledge to continue to tell African stories.
