Jolanda Vlastuin says:

Coots are special birds to see. On a beautiful spring morning I saw this group swimming side by side.
The polder near Nijkerk is often teeming with these birds, so this morning I got into the car with my telephoto lens to photograph these beautiful creatures.
I’ve had this multiple exposure in mind for a while, but I still hadn’t managed to get a shot I was happy with. This morning I saw a new opportunity. I got out and chose a low position for the first exposure. I also deliberately photographed through the reeds, so that a nice soft foreground was created.
The second exposure is an ICM image of a number of trees standing there in the water. I waited for the sun to break through the clouds to create a scenic photo. These two exposures together made this image: The coots seem to swim through the trees in this way.

Other relevant information about the photo: Double exposure

The Netherlands

My name is Jolanda Vlastuin (1981). I was born and raised in the Veluwe and love for nature was instilled in me from an early age.
In 2013 I bought my first SLR camera and so a new passion was born. At one point I liked photography so much that I have largely made it my job.
Macro photography is my number 1, but besides that I also really like to be creative with shooting by applying multiple exposure and ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) techniques.
My four most important keywords when it comes to nature photography are: passion, respect, wonder and atmosphere.
