Name: Juan Garcia Lucas
Picture title: Twisted freeze
Category: Landscape
Nationality: I am from Spain and have always lived here. I was born in Asturias, I grew up in Cervera de Pisuerga, Palencia. I currently live in Pamplona.
Occupation: No, I’m not a full-time photographer but it would be interesting to be.
Technical information
Camera: Canon 5D Mark IV
Lens: Canon 11-24mm L f/4.0
EXIF: 11mm,1/320s, f/11, ISO 400
Accessories: I did the photography freehand and without a tripod. I did not use flash. I closed the diaphragm to f/11 to have a lot of depth and thus be able to get very close to the ice to give it a lot of prominences. I noticed that there was a nice contrast between warm (the mountain) and cold. I wanted to compose it so that the ice would caress the top of the mountain.

Juan Garcia Lucas says:
Lake Baikal, Russia. The deepest lake on earth and where 20% of all fresh water on the planet is stored. It freezes every year reaching temperatures of -35ºC and in the freezing process, the temperature changes, the dilations that break the ice, the storms that hit the coasts, everything shapes the capricious shapes of the ice. Until finally the intense cold finishes building these forms. On the coast and next to the walls of the small islands, we can find small caves, each one more unique. They are perishable caves that do not repeat themselves and where a wide-angle lens encompasses a great vision of what I have above me. It is like an ice cathedral.
