Mathijs Frenken says:
Fall is my favorite season because of the beautiful fall colors and the mushrooms that appear everywhere at this time of year. Most mushrooms grow in the forest and that is where I found this beautiful mushroom. I positioned myself so that the light of the rising sun was shining through the cap of the mushroom.
By using a blue-white balance, the gills are blue in color and the warm color of the rising sun between the gills stands out more. Using my ultra macro lens I was able to get really close and take this abstract photo of the gills of the mushroom. I did not use a special technique.

Ever since he was a child, Mathijs has been passionate about everything that has to do with animals and nature. By combining his passion for animals and nature with another passion of Mathijs, technology, a new passion arose about 10 years ago: nature photography. Since then, he has been photographing everything that has to do with nature, from landscapes to abstract and from insects and mushrooms to mammals.
He has always found birds fascinating and prefers to photograph them. By experimenting with creative techniques, Mathijs creates images that invite you to look at them for a longer period of time. With his photos, he wants to show people how beautiful nature is and how important it is to preserve nature.
