D’Artagnan Sprengel says:
It was a warm spring day and the bee hives on our property were very active. On sunny days like this I had observed that the bees liked to land on the edge of the birdbath in my garden to drink, sometimes resulting in bees slipping in and drowning. As a solution, I placed some stones in the water for them to land on. Within a few minutes they had taken to landing on the stones. I went inside and got my camera and macro lens and sat next to the birdbath and watched the bees. I noticed one bee sitting on a stone, just above the surface of the water, having a drink. I captured this photo by placing my camera on the rim of the birdbath to get the lowest angle making it look as though the bee was walking on water.

About D'Artagnan Sprengel:
New Zealand
I am D’Artagnan Sprengel from Aotearoa (New Zealand). I have been taking photos since I was 10 and on my 11th birthday I got my first DSLR and from there, photography became my passion. I mostly take photos of birds and bugs, as we have very, very few land mammals down here, but I also do a bit of astro and landscape photography on the side.
